Rita Dominic, a seasoned actress from Nigeria, has revealed how little money she received for her very first acting role.
She said in a recent interview with Joy 99.7 FM in Ghana that the first film she acted in earned her N10,000.
Rita Dominic stated that her excitement kept her going even if the Nigerian film business (Nollywood) wasn't profitable when she first started performing.
All I wanted to do was act. Furthermore, money was scarce in Nollywood at the time. All we had going for us was passion. Our motivation came from our love and enthusiasm for the arts.

It was really difficult. However, we just continued in doing so until the industry grew significantly. Naturally, the pay also improved significantly.
Rita Dominic said the following in response to a question about her first acting job's payment:
"The director of the first movie I worked on paid me N35,000." But for several months, he owing me N25,000. He didn't even give me the remaining amount. He merely gave me N10,000.
