Festus says that on the day of the procedure, when she was preparing to go into the operating room, he took her phone and contacted her mother to ask for prayers for a successful outcome from the surgery.
He stated that a phone had come in at that very moment, and before he could respond, the caller's mature voice could be seen crying.
The caller continued, optimistic about the success of the surgery, before he could say anything more. He also promised to fly back to Nigeria and pop the question to her, allowing them to get married following the treatment.
Festus said that after being startled by the call, he made the decision to exit the operating room without losing his kidney.
His words …
She started having kidney problems, and I was supposed to perform a kidney transplant. I agreed to give her one of my kidneys out of love. We were ready for the transplant after the required examinations.
She requested me to borrow her phone to call her mother and ask her to pray for her on that terrible day in the operating room. As soon as I took up the phone to contact her mother, "papi" appeared on the other end of the call. When I answered the phone, I heard an older man in tears.
Without giving me a chance to speak, he asked, "How are you, my princess? I think you can make it. It's unfortunate that I'm not in your country right now, but I swear to make it up to you when I return." We'll get married after I drop the question to you. For me, please, show strength.
I hung up. I was bewildered and confused. I left her behind and took my kidney out of the operation room. Oh no, don't do that again. She didn't bother phoning me since, I assume, she discovered that I answered her call.
