Due to an injury, South African Grammy-winning performer Tyla had to postpone her highly anticipated world tour by only a few weeks.
The young musician, who shot to fame internationally with the hit song "Water" last year, expressed her sadness at the doctors' advice not to go through with the tour.
The 22-year-old said in a social media post that she has been "silently suffering" from an injury that "has tragically worsened" for the past year.
"I've seen doctors and specialists with high hopes, but the seriousness of the situation and the pain have only increased in pain," Tyla wrote on Instagram. There are no words to express how frustrated I am at this critical point in my career. "Therefore, please know that as soon as I am well enough to return safely to the stage, my team and I are working hard on a spectacular show for you." Later this month, in Oslo, Norway, would have been the start of what would have been Tyla's first international tour. She would have made stops throughout Europe and North America, including at the renowned Coachella festival in the California desert.
It came after Tyla's swift rise to fame.
Last October, her hit song "Water" achieved a historic first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 list, the top weekly music ranking in the US.
Additionally, the song helped the pianist from Johannesburg win a Grammy for Best African Music Performance in February.
"God has his plan, even though it's difficult to turn down opportunities you've been waiting your entire life for," Tyla posted on Thursday.
"Water" mixes R&B and amapiano, a South African township-born style of house, jazz, and lounge music that is becoming more and more well-known worldwide.
