Rumours circulated that he had opened a POS business, which Umar categorically denied at the time.

Despite initial financial issues, Umar revealed that a successful crowdfunding effort garnered N352,000 to help his entrepreneurial venture. The movement quickly gathered traction, garnering support from a variety of sources, including former minister Isa Pantami. We launched the fundraising motivate on June 24th and shared the story across all social media platforms. And within 24 hours, $80,000 was raised. On the second day, it increased to well than $200,000. Umar informed Legit that on the third day, Prof. Isah Ali Pantami quoted the campaign on X App and requested a private contact. Umar further claimed that he has received a fully funded scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies at any public university in Nigeria. "Secondly, a fully paid postgraduate scholarship at any public university in Nigeria to continue my studies. Finally, he introduced me to the MD of Alliance Power Generation Company Ltd, who will train me on solar installations, maintenance, and other topics that will help me follow my renewable energy aspirations," he added.
