SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, said that Usman would face legal charges, including unauthorised possession of firearms and attempted suicide, under Section 231 of Northern Nigeria's Penal Code. Shandam Michael made a distress call, which prompted an investigation into the incident. The authorities took advantage of the opportunity to warn people about risky and illegal practices, as well as the risks of experimenting with guns and charms.
"Unfortunately, the charm failed to shield him, causing life-threatening injuries. Officers from the Byazhin Division responded quickly, discovering Usman in severe condition. He was rushed to Kubwa General Hospital for emergency treatment before being moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital for further treatment.
Following the incident, authorities conducted a comprehensive search of Usman's residence, recovering the makeshift pistol and a variety of charms used in his irresponsible experiment. Investigations are ongoing, and Usman is expected to face charges for unauthorised firearm ownership and attempted suicide under Section 231 of Northern Nigeria's Penal Code Law.
