Dupe Jayesimi, a veteran Nollywood actress, has opened out about her tragic experience with childlessness, detailing how the anguish led to alcoholism and severe mental issues. On Biola Bayo's podcast, Jayesimi discussed how her inability to conceive contributed to the breakdown of her marriage. Despite having IVF twice, she was unable to conceive a child.

Her Painful Journey

Struggles with Acceptance

Beyond her marriage, Jayesimi suffered heartache when parenting children who weren't her own: -She reared her younger sister's child, but on the wedding day, her sister reminded her that the child was not her own. -She used excessive dancing at occasions to hide her inner anguish and melancholy.

Overcoming the Struggles

Jayesimi revealed that her sorrow drove her to alcoholism, but she has since discovered means to recover. Her heartbreaking experience has generated discussions about infertility issues, cultural demands on women, and the stigma of childlessness in marriage.
