Former Senate President David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, and other coalition heavyweights have formally embraced the African Democratic Congress as the platform to lead President Bola Tinubu's downfall in the 2027 election. When the unveiling took place on Wednesday at theAt the Yar'Adua Centre in Abuja, members of the ADC coalition Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola were named the ADC's temporary National Chairman and Secretary, respectively. At the same time, Dumebi Kachikwu, the ADC's 2023 presidential candidate, and other members of the party's former bloc attacked Atiku, Obi, and others, saying they were incapable of leading and that they had taken over the party.In a different statement, PDP Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum insisted that the party is still unified and issued a warning that members who undermine the PDP in the name of a coalition would face repercussions. The All Progressives Congress, for its part, said that the ruling party will easily defeat the opposition leaders in the 2027 elections and derided them as retired politicians who have refused to resign. The opposition parties are attempting to establish a coalition in order to defeat the president in the upcoming presidential election, against the backdrop of the suffering and complaints brought on by Tinubu's economic reforms.PDP Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum said in a separate statement that the party is united and warned that anyone who discredit the PDP in the name of a coalition would suffer consequences. For its part, the All Progressives Congress blasted the opposition leaders as retired politicians who have refused to step down, claiming that the ruling party would easily defeat them in the 2027 elections. In light of the pain and grievances caused by Tinubu's economic reforms, the opposition parties are trying to create a coalition in order to defeat the president in the next presidential election.
