Court sets to hear suit by Mohbad’s father seeking DNA test for grandson, Liam

A significant legal development is that Liam, the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad,'s son, is going to have his case heard by the Magistrates' Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, in order to obtain a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test. The case that Mohbad's father, Joseph Aloba, filed to find Liam's biological father will be reviewed by the court. This was confirmed in a statement that Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family's legal team, signed. The judicial system was set up to ensure the outcome of the case, according to Odumosu, who made the statement headed "Aloba family seeks court order for DNA test on Liam." He said that Aloba was asking the court for an order directing that the test be carried out at the applicant's expense in a recognised and certified government or private medical facility inside the state. The statement said as follows: "The family of late star music artist Mr. Ilerioluwa Promise Oladimeji Aloba (also known as Mohbad), who passed away on September 12, 2023, under peculiar circumstances, has asked a date for mention of the DNA test application. The required legal structure is in place to ensure the matter's success. Joseph Aloba v. Cynthia Omowunmi Aloba is the case in the Ikorodu Magistrate Court's Family Court (MKD/31/FAM/2024). The departed father is representing the family in their request for an order of the a deoxyribonucleic acid test regarding the paternity of Master Liam Aloba, who is said to be the son of Mr. Ilerioluwa Promise Oladimeji Aloba (deceased), must be carried out in a recognised and accredited government or private medical facility in Lagos State, Nigeria, at the applicant's expense, according to a court order. Odumosu says that the family also requested a court order compelling Mrs. Omowunmi Aloba to consent to having her and Master Liam Aloba tested for DNA. The statement further disclosed that an attempt was made on Friday, March 8, at her Lekki residence, to serve Mohbad's wife with court documents, but the attempt was successful. The process server stated that she had not been seen in the house recently based on the information provided by the people who inquired about serving her with the process. To make sure that she receives all court orders in a proper manner, the legal team has stated that they will investigate other options," the statement continued. Mohbad passed away at the age of 27, and his death's circumstances sparked arguments on social media. Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley's Marlian Music record label, departed the label in February 2022. A 13-person special investigation team was established by the Lagos State Police Command on September 18, 2023, to look into the singer's death. Along with other people, his killing resulted in the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, better known as Sam Larry.
