Troops neutralise three suspected armed herders in Benue

According to Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), three alleged armed herders attacked soldiers deployed in Benue State's Apa Local Government Area, and the army killed them. The OPWS Force Commander, Gen. Sunday Igbinomwanhia, revealed this to the media on Monday in Makurdi during a briefing about the attack. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), OPWS provides coverage for the states of Nasarawa, Taraba, and Benue. According to Igbinomwanhia, during the attack, the armed herders killed one staff member and injured another who was seeking medical attention at a Makurdi hospital. He said the other troops were in the process of clearing out suspected foreign herders with weapons who had invaded Kwande LGA. According to him, the armed herders terrorising several villages in Kwande LGA are thought to be entering the nation across the international border between Nigeria and Cameroon. In a related incident, three people were killed by suspected herders on Sunday night in Kwande LGA.
