Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has revealed that his administration inherited 34 unfinished projects worth over N225.279 billion distributed across 13 local government areas in the state. The Governor also stated that the Rivers State Government has granted nine new road projects totaling N534.332 billion during his tenure. This is despite the fact that he called the political crisis conducted against his administration as violent and existential in nature, just three months after taking office on May 29, 2023.However, the Governor stated that the worst was over because his administration successfully defended the State's rights and privileges to rule and develop its growth in liberty and freedom without compromise. Governor Fubara made these statements on Wednesday while giving an Account of Stewardship and Scorecard to commemorate his administration's one-year anniversary at the Dr. Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt. The Governor stated, "We began this journey with a bang." We were focused. We were determined to make the changes we had promised with hurry.
But then, some how, we found ourselves in the midst of a crisis just three months into our tenure. It was hardly a typical political crisis. It was a terrible existential crisis. "But thank heavens, the worst has passed. We have successfully defended our rights and opportunities to govern our state and further its growth in liberty, and we will continue to succeed."
Governor Fubara stated that since then, a lot has happened in the political environment, adding that he remains committed to the covenant made a year ago to put Rivers State first, defend its interests, and guarantee that the people receive the rewards of democracy and good governance.
