Governor Alex Otti has named the first six-lane road from the Enugu Port Harcourt Highway Tower junction to Umuahia's capital city after former Head of State General Thomas Umunnakwe Aguiyi Ironsi. Former Chief of Defence Staff Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe (retd.) launched the 3.5-kilometer road amid pomp and beauty. Gov. Otti's mark project, which began in September 2023, is one of a succession of historic project inaugurations during the last year.
Other historic projects, including as a central bus station behind Okpara Square, are currently being inaugurated and flagged off as part of his One Year in Office celebrations. Abians from all political parties flocked to watch the colourful rituals, which drew the presence of the Emir of Azare in Nassarawa State.
