I Brushed My Teeth About 6 Times – Tiwa Savage Talks About Her First Ever Kissing Scene
Water and Garri, starring Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage, has become one of the year's most heavily criticised and divisive movies. Despite its commercial success, individuals have many opinions about the movie, notably how it finishes. Tiwa Savage spoke with BET about the ending, the love scenes, and whether or not she will appear in future films. Tiwa Savage discussed what drew her to the Water and Garri storyline, as well as her own opinions on the polarising ending. "I love the story. I love the story of coming back. I love the story of finding yourself again. It's not such a happy ending, but then, in life, you don't always have happy endings. So, I loved that. And then, I loved that it had a love twist. All of those elements were just very beautiful to me." She spoke about the spicy scenes, how she sometimes forgot her and her co-star were not really dating, and how it was especially weird when her real-life boyfriend was on. "I have a love interest in this movie, and sometimes while we're on set, I have to remind myself, "That is not your boyfriend Tiwa" [laughs]. You should calm down. And then my real-life lover would come on set, and I'd be like, "What is he doing here?" [laughs]. We're no longer together, so he can hear this. On the first day on set, I had my kissing scene. I'm pleased it was my first day because I got right into it. I recall brushing my teeth in my dressing room maybe five or six times because I felt the urge to represent. However, he was quite lovely. The entire cast was present. They were incredibly kind." When asked if she would be making additional films after Water and Garri, Tiwa Savage responded: "Listen, I've told everyone that film cheques are good. So, I have around eight scripts in my head. "I am working on other stories."
