Atiku celebrates John Mahama’s victory as Ghana’s President-elect

Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria's former Vice President, has congratulated John Mahama on his victory in Ghana's just ended presidential elections. According to sources, the ruling party's nominee, Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat to former President John Mahama on Sunday, following the December 7 election results.

In a message posted on his official X account, Atiku described Mahama's victory as a landslide. "Your Excellency, Mr. President-elect John Mahama (@JDMahama). My heartfelt congratulations on your victory. I was told you were on your way to church, so I figured I'd meet up with you before you entered for Sunday service. Once again, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on your overwhelming victory," Atiku said on X. Earlier, Bawumia formally admitted his defeat and congratulated Mahama. During a press conference, he stated, "The people of Ghana have spoken and voted for change. We respect their decision with humility." Mahama later stated on his X account that he received the congratulatory call from Bawumia.
