A young Nigerian lady has described her horrific experience with a second ear piercing that resulted in a keloid, necessitating surgery and other treatments. In a now-viral video, TikTok user @_therealnugwa described how a minor piercing became a health issue after two years, with a keloid the size of a peanut growing at the location.
She captioned the video with, "If only I knew what was waiting for me." Even though she had a successful operation, she disclosed that she needed cryotherapy to keep the keloid from reappearing. She went on to say, "My doctor told me that it has a high tendency to grow back. I just had surgery, so I still need to take something called cryotherapy to prevent it from growing back." Many people who had similar situations have subsequently shared their stories on the now-viral thread, while others have just empathised with the lady.
A social media user @Sugar 🍫🧚🏽♀️ responded, "Story of my life 😂 after 3rd ear lobe and after 2 years of piercing it 🥺 surgically removed it and it is growing back." "It breaks my heart." Another user, @jiddarhusman, wrote, "The same thing happened to me; I had the surgery three times because it kept recurring." After a long course of treatment, I pierced again and now have three piercings.
