Nigerian rapper Timaya has offered his thoughts on why he has decided not to marry, emphasising the complexity of dissolving a marriage vs a partnership. In a recent interview with NAIJA FM, he addressed his long-held doubts about marriage and his duty as a father to his four children. When asked about his thoughts on marriage, Timaya replied, "I've never been a marriage man, but that could change, because marriage is on the decline. I just think about it like this: if I married today, will I be able to leave? In all of my prior relationships, I was the one who left because I dislike stress."
The Dem Mama rapper emphasised the value of open communication in his partnerships, saying he prefers not to keep unsolved issues. He explained, "If you have an issue with me, let's talk about it because I don't like going to bed thinking about things; I'm going to die. I dislike anything that bothers me." Regarding his role as a parent, Timaya stated that his children live with their different mothers, but they have a close and affectionate relationship. He explained, "Being a father is hard because I love them too much, but it is also joyful. My four children live with their mothers, so when I want to see them, I ask their mothers to bring them to my house, where we spend two to three months before they return to their moms. Christmas is approaching, and they would like to spend it with me as well, but their mothers are unable to attend due to their current relationships. I can't date any of them since we're all family now, and we respect one other.""I have four kids. Being a father is enjoyable."
