In an interview with AIT on Thursday, Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara stated that he would be willing to step down from office in order to establish lasting peace in the region.
"I will make any sacrifice needed to ensure this administration succeeds," he declared. The answer is extremely clear: political love is not the cause. It's not that I want to win everyone over to my way. My affection and interest in our beloved state are sincere.
"I'm not attempting to imply that I want to be the one man who determines everyone else's fate. However, let Rivers State stay.
"The drama wasn't centred on my load. It appears as though the hopes of the millions of Rivers people who had made sacrifices and were seeing opportunity are being dashed.
They were the ones for whom I was concerned. And what would become of them? That
was a problem for me. It has nothing to do with me.
The governor of Rivers went on to say, "I can even tell the people to come and take it if leaving this position is what I need or what is needed to bring more peace in this state." It has nothing to do with me. It should be clear to everyone that definitely I’m here, I will go, but Rivers State will still remain.
"The governor is me. Whatever the case, there are things I could have done to cause a complete crisis, but maturity is the capacity to use self control when faced with a crisis and given the authority to act.
