Man travels from Ibadan to Lagos, dumps Facebook girlfriend at park for looking different

A Nigerian woman recounted a funny yet memorable story about a man and his Facebook girlfriend's failed online romance. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, she described how a man drove from Ibadan to Lagos to visit her buddy, only to ditch her at the car park after seeing her in person. The incident occurred several years ago, but the lady recalls it well. She revealed that her buddy had met the man over Facebook, and after months of online romance, he decided to pay her a visit in Lagos. However, when he eventually saw her in person, he was noticeably astonished, claiming she looked different than the images she had provided him and the ones on Facebook.Recalling the incident, she wrote: "I just unexpectedly remembered something that happened to my closest friend and me in 2014. She met a guy on Facebook and began dating online."

When he eventually made it from Ibadan to Lagos to visit her, I accompanied her to the park to greet him. But I saw she was nervous." "She requested me to meet him first, but I told him to come over instead. As soon as he saw her, he exclaimed, "Wunmi!" Wunmi!! Wunmi!!! But you weren't this fat in the images! He took out his phone and scrolled through her images in surprise. "He refused to walk with us to his hotel right there in the park." He continued saying, 'I didn't realise she was like this; I can't go with her. We implored him, but he insisted on returning to Ibadan the same evening."

She further said that the man attacked them in English before switching to Yoruba, comparing their appearances to "rice and beans" and calling them opposites. When asked if her companion had mislead him about her appearance, she replied, "No, she did not pretend." It was actually her image, but the filters made her face appear leaner. He knew she was fat, but he hadn't expected the amount of fat he saw. "He was shocked." As the story spread online, social media users swamped the comments section with their opinions and responses.
